Texas Mutual employees raise $73,062 for the MS 150 campaign
One of Texas Mutual’s longstanding traditions has been riding in the MS 150 and fundraising in support of multiple sclerosis research. The MS 150 is a two-day bicycle ride, which has grown to start in Houston or Austin and finish at Kyle Field at Texas A&M University. It’s a cause that unites our employees across our four offices through opportunities to volunteer and give back to help create a world without multiple sclerosis. While this year’s MS 150 ride was cancelled due to inclement weather, our employees stepped up to raise $73,062 benefiting the National MS Society.
Over the past eight years, Texas Mutual employees have raised more than half a million dollars to help fund critical multiple sclerosis research. While working from home, our employees helped us reach that milestone in 2021 through creative virtual fundraisers that built comradery and shared our community spirit.
In our first-ever pedal for pledges virtual event, riders from our Texas Mutual cycling team hopped on their stationary bikes to raise donations. Employees showed their support during the event by donating to the riders, which helped raise $6,248.
We also teamed up with Tiff’s Treats to support the cause and hosted a virtual raffle and silent auction as opportunities for employees to give back.
For many of our riders who have loved ones and friends diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, this cause is personal. When they heard the news of this year’s Bike MS ride being cancelled, they rallied with other teams to host their own make-up ride a few weeks later. They made a 104-mile journey in one day as representatives of Texas Mutual in the community, and in solidarity with all those who supported their fundraising efforts.
Each year, we have sponsors who contribute to our company-wide fundraising efforts and whose logo appears on the back of our Texas Mutual cycling jerseys. We’re grateful to our longstanding sponsors including Argonaut Insurance, who we also partner with to cover workers in other states.
At the core of our TXM for Texas community program is our employees, who give of their time and talents to strengthening our communities. They’re empowered each year to help make a difference in the lives of those diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It’s a part of our larger commitment to building a stronger, safer Texas through partnerships with organizations across the state.
