Employers who are required to electronically submit injury and illness information to OSHA must do so by March 2. An EHS Today article provides a checklist to help employers make sure recordkeeping forms are completed and the appropriate information is submitted to OSHA.

OSHA granted authority to approve specific nonimmigrant visa applications

Beginning March 30, OSHA will have authority to issue certifications for U and T nonimmigrant status visas during investigations of human trafficking and other qualifying criminal activities. OSHA hopes this will help employees feel empowered to voice concerns regardless of immigration status.

OSHA seeks input on Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP)

OSHA began the VPP over 40 years ago to recognize employers for successful safety and health management programs. The agency now hopes to modernize and enhance the program and is seeking comments from the public on a variety of topics. Comments are due by April 14, 2023.

Noise exposure basics

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 22 million employees are exposed to potentially damaging noise each year. Safety video highlights dangers of forklift passengers

A safety video produced by the Workers’ Compensation Board of British Columbia explains the dangers of riding in a forklift as a passenger. The video highlights hazards such as falling off the equipment, being struck by objects and getting crushed between the forklift and another object.
