DWC releases final COVID-19 factsheet

DWC released its final factsheet of COVID-19 results as of April 2023. The agency has provided the factsheet as a method of understanding the impact of COVID-19 on the Texas workers’ compensation system. The document contains data from 74 insurance carriers.

Four concepts that are improving safety and health

During this week’s Safety 2023 conference, a panel discussion will focus on four ideas that are changing the safety and health industry. The four concepts include human and organizational performance (HOP), safety differently, relationship-centered leadership and psychological safety.

Forklift safety day is June 13

The 10th annual National Forklift Safety Day is scheduled for June 13. The event focuses on important hazard controls and safety program contents for the industry. The Industrial Truck Association is hosting a free event June 12-13 in Washington, but stakeholders can also attend virtually.

Trench safety week begins June 19

The National Utility Contractors Association and other safety and equipment organizations sponsor a stand down each year to focus on trench and excavation hazards. This year’s Trench Safety Stand Down will take place June 19-23. Employers can find training materials and a participation certification on the event’s website page.

New podcast episode covers lone worker safety

A new podcast episode from Occupational Health & Safety magazine covers the challenge of ensuring safety for employees who work alone. The episode discusses key safety issues and challenges as well as tools for improving conditions.
