Responding to the opioid crisis, HHS is offering updated guidance to federal facilities to expand their existing automated external defibrillator (AED) stations into comprehensive safety stations equipped with naloxone, a medication that can quickly reverse opioid overdoses.

ISN released a white paper about serious injuries and fatalities (SIFs) that added 2022 data to its prior five-year data set. Key findings include contact with objects and equipment as the leading cause of fatalities; sprains, strains and tears as the most frequently reported incident; and mid-size corporations as having the highest fatality rate. This report also provides an industry-specific analysis of SIFs for transportation, oil and gas, manufacturing, mining and utilities.

How to discuss and support mental health at work

An HR Digest article discusses the importance of addressing mental health in the workplace, citing that over 12% of sick day leave can be attributed to mental health conditions and 49% of employees are afraid to discuss their mental health at work for fear of losing their jobs. Signs of mental health issues are explained as well as strategies for supporting mental health such as providing safe working conditions, changing the work culture and communicating regularly.
