Employee recovery stories: Ronnie’s journey

In 2004, Ronnie was employed as an electrical worker for a local electric company. While performing line work one day, he suffered an electrical shock that took both his arms and changed his life forever. Fortunately, Ronnie had the will to return to doing the things he loved as well as the support of his family, employer and Texas Mutual.

After being air-lifted to a hospital, Ronnie spent 45 days being treated and prepared for prosthetic arms. Once released, he went to a rehabilitation center to learn how to use his new arms and take care of them. As his employer’s workers’ compensation carrier, Texas Mutual was checking in every step of the way to make sure Ronnie had the care he needed as well as payments for his lost wages.

Eighteen months later, Ronnie was able to return to work, although in a slightly different capacity. He began helping with the company’s training program and inspired his co-workers to take safety even more seriously. And the best part is that he found his way back to doing all the outdoor activities he loves.

Watch Ronnie’s incredible story to learn more about his road to recovery and see his positive attitude in action.
