Texas Mutual helps expand occupational residency programs
At Texas Mutual, we’re invested in supporting working Texans today and in the future, including expanding access to health care for them and their families. Creating healthier communities across the state is central to our mission of building a stronger, safer Texas.
That’s why we’re investing a combined $1.8 million in the occupational and environmental medicine residency programs at the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. This donation will fund six physicians over the course of six years during which they will receive training and have the opportunity to serve their local communities. These residency programs are the only two offered in Texas.
Physicians enter the residency programs after graduating from medical school and receive hands-on training through rotations and courses. Physicians who go on to specialize in occupational and environmental medicine help treat and prevent work-related injuries and illnesses, champion safe work environments and help support employee health.
We’re proud to invest in the education of our future physicians who serve such a critical role in supporting our communities. Learn more about how we’re supporting working Texans now and for years to come as part of our corporate citizenship strategy.
