OSHA proposes rule to protect employees from extreme heat

OSHA has proposed a rule to protect indoor and outdoor employees from extreme heat. The rule would require employers to develop a plan to protect employees from heat hazards, provide training on the subject and have an immediate response to an employee experiencing a heat emergency. Once the rule is published in the federal register, the public will be able to comment before it’s finalized.

Registration opens for Safe + Sound Week

OSHA is again partnering with several other safety agencies and organizations to promote awareness of workplace safety and health programs in an annual, national initiative. This year’s Safe + Sound Week is scheduled for August 12-18 and will focus on job hazard analysis (JHA). Organizations can register for this free event and download resources and activities on OSHA's website.

CDC updates respiratory virus vaccination recommendations

The CDC has updated its recommendations for respiratory virus vaccines and urges everyone 6 months or older to get the new COVID-19 and flu vaccines for the 2024-2025 season. Additionally, the CDC also recommends that adults 60 and older receive an RSV vaccine. This update aims to simplify RSV vaccine decisions and better protect this age group, which is more likely to develop a severe illness.
