Texas Mutual employees volunteer 2,109 hours in October

Employees volunteering

At Texas Mutual, we’re more than insurance — we’re a force for good. We support our employees in sharing their time and talents to help build a brighter future for the communities where we live and work. For the fourth consecutive year, we partnered with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) to collectively step up for our neighbors across the state.

This year, we expanded from one week to an entire Month of Giving, where 384 Texas Mutual employees completed projects benefiting 55 organizations in four Texas cities that we call home. During the month of October, TXM employees spent 2,109 hours volunteering together to support great organizations.

Our Austin employees kicked off our Month of Giving with a family volunteer event, benefitting Generation SERVE. Volunteers participated in kid-friendly activities including decorating placemats, creating snack bags and more. Throughout the month, employees helped beautify Community First! Village with Mobile Loaves & Fishes, spent time with kids at Foundation Communities, prepared meals for families at the Ronald McDonald House, made flashcards for children with Any Baby Can and helped out at El Buen Samaritano’s food pantry. Employees also supported Girls Empowerment Network all month long by creating bracelets, bookmarks and role model letters.

Our Dallas employees stepped up for their community by participating in a cemetery cleanup to honor our veterans, preparing meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, assembling cold and flu kits for Foundation Communities, helping out at a Kids’ Chance of Texas golf tournament and conducting mock interviews in support of NPower. Employees also got their families involved during a volunteer event working on several projects benefiting Catch Up & ReadHumane Society of North Texas and the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

Employees in Houston kicked off their Month of Giving by helping out at the Houston Food Bank and decorating lunch bags for Kids’ Meals. Throughout the rest of the month, they also spent time with kids at Casa de Esperanza de Los Ninos, participated in a cemetery cleanup to honor veterans and played bingo with adults at the Avondale House.

Our Lubbock employees spent the month showing up for our neighbors by writing thank you cards supporting We Honor Veterans, baking desserts for families at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest, packing food boxes for community members at the South Plains Food Bank and helping out with a science carnival for Science Spectrum. Employees also spent time at a family volunteer event, benefiting several local nonprofit organizations.
