OSHA penalties are adjusted for 2023
The Department of Labor announced the updated OSHA penalty amounts, which are based on cost-of-living adjustments. Effective this week, maximum penalties for serious and other-than-serious violations increased to $15,625 and the maximum penalty for willful or repeated violations rose to $156,259.

Apprentice training can lead to safer employees
A study of journey level plumbers across a ten-year span shows there may be a correlation between apprentice training and improved workplace safety. The study found that workers’ compensation claim rates were 31% lower for those who completed apprentice training. The same group also missed significantly less days of work when they did have a claim.
