We’re intentional about how we show up for Texas and our communities. Our valuable partnerships with nonprofits across the state allow us to expand our reach and help make a difference for hardworking Texans. In February, we began our annual fundraising campaign, which contributes to advancing the shared mission of our longstanding partner, the United Way. Over 1,000 employees from our four offices came together to help improve the lives of our neighbors. Together, we raised $175,186 through creative fundraisers to help strengthen the communities where we live and work.

During our month-long campaign, we helped celebrate the United Way’s milestone of 100 years of service, learned more about its focus areas and contributed to its mission through entertaining fundraisers. We began our campaign with a community conversation, where employees learned about the essential role United Way’s 2-1-1 Navigation Center plays in helping Central Texans get support when they need it.

Through the free, confidential, multilingual phone line, individuals speak with compassionate specialists who help connect them with community resources for needs such as health care, housing and transportation. In the last year, the 2-1-1 Navigation Center received over 200,000 requests for needs such as health care, housing and transportation.

Our employees also had fun showcasing their unique skills, including carving, drawing, singing and painting during three creative fundraisers where their co-workers supported them through donations. We hosted our fourth annual version of the reality TV show, Chopped, a Texas Mutual edition of Win, Lose or Draw and TXM’s Got Talent. Additionally, employees showed their giving spirit by making weekly donations and entering to win gift cards.

We’re grateful for our partnership with the United Way and over 100 other nonprofits across the state that help us be a force for good. Later this year, we’ll be awarding $8 million in grants to Texas nonprofits through two Request for Proposal (RFP) initiatives focused on generational learning and workforce development. Together, we’re strengthening our communities, businesses and working families and showing up for those in need.
