Celebrating 10 years of our underwriting trainee program

As the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation, Texas Mutual is committed to supporting the industry and our state’s economy by growing the insurance talent of the future. One way we’ve done that over the last decade is through our work-based learning programs. This year, we’re proud to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of our underwriting trainee program.

In 2014, we welcomed our first class of trainees after recognizing a need to recruit and retain more experienced underwriters to serve our customers. Over the course of 13 weeks, they learned underwriting concepts, Texas Mutual’s underwriting principles and how to apply them in the real world.

Each year, the trainee program has evolved to continue playing a significant role in Texas Mutual growing as the market leader and developing the next generation of underwriters. Whether it’s finding a meaningful career path at Texas Mutual or launching into other segments of the industry, trainees are helping grow the insurance industry of tomorrow.

We are currently accepting applications for our 2025 underwriting trainee program.

Our underwriting trainee program is part of TXM Ignite, which combines several work-based learning programs that give individuals the opportunity to earn income while learning new skills. Through this initiative, we’re doing our part to support the future of insurance and provide education and valuable experience to those growing in their careers.
